Each summer, the chemistry department will host a Research Experience for Undergraduates program (REU) with a focus on Energy and Materials and Chemical Biology in an intensive, hands-on, 10-week session. This year’s summer program will run from May 30, 2017 to August 4, 2017. Our program seeks to attract students who plan to pursue research in chemical science as a career. The program is supported by the Division of Chemistry at the National Science Foundation (NSF) and organized in cooperation with Support of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors (SOURCE) under the direction of Dr. Blanton Tolbert and Dr. Emily Pentzer.
Each student will be assigned to a faculty mentor with related research interests. They will also have the opportunity to participate in an ongoing faculty member’s research project, attend educational seminars, and engage in social activities. At the end of the program, participants will present their research during a poster session with all other summer undergraduate researchers.
