In collaboration with the Department of Classics, and Dr. Maddelena Rumor, the Chemistry Department had another successful ChemExplore event. Dr. Rekha Srinivasan, Dr. Stephanie Kramer, and Dr. Brian Fitch taught students about redox chemistry while creating beautiful tie-dye patterns using indigo dye. Participants experimented with plant-based pH indicators, observing how natural pigments change color in response to acidity and alkalinity.
