Chemistry alumnus, Walter G. Copan, nominated to lead the US National Institute of Standards and Technology

In the news this week, Chemistry Department’s 2008 Outstanding Alumunus, Walter G. Copan, (BA 1975, Chemistry, Western Reserve College; PhD,1982, Chemistry, CWRU) was nominated to lead the US National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Copan earned his BA in Chemistry, and later his PhD with a focus in Physical Chemistry from our department. In 2008, the department awarded him with the Outstanding Alumnus award for his impressive accomplishments at Lubrizol, North American Operations and Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. He went on to work for the Department of Enegry, and even with the NIST.
