Michael Jirousek (GRS ’89, Chemistry) was recognized as the winner of the 2023 College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Graduate Alumnus Award during Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 12 – 15). Graduating from Case Western Reserve University in 1989 with his Ph.D., Jirousek was the founding Chief Operating Officer of Frequency Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company in the Boston area. Prior to Frequency, he co-founded Catabasis Pharmaceuticals and served as Chief Scientific Officer. Before this, he served in leadership roles for Eli Lilly, Abbott, and Pfizer. He recently joined the Chemistry Department as an adjunct professor and teaches CHEM 333/433: Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Development.
