Undergraduate first years joined the Chemistry Department for the inaugural ChemExplore event on Friday, October 13th. ChemExplore invites pre-major students to learn about research happening in the department and consider pursuing an education in chemistry. It is a part of the new Explore Curriculum implemented by the university for this academic year.
Starting at 12:45 PM, students were invited to meet and greet with faculty and learn about opportunities for undergraduate research. PizzaBOGO provided lunch, while some of the department’s faculty and graduate students presented posters to the first years. Lab tours began at 2 PM, allowing students to meet the department’s individual research groups in their lab space.
Major thanks to the Undergraduate Recruiting and Undergraduate Affairs Committees for putting on this inaugural event for our students!
