Please join Patrick S. Hanley, Ph. D., Research & Development Director of Talent & Growth at Dow, for an interactive conversation discussing career pathways into industry. His discussion will focus on the transition from academic labs to industrial research, highlighting the rewards of commercially driven research and offering advice on navigating large organizations. He will share his experiences transitioning from graduate school to a large, publicly traded company, and provide tips for preparing for success in industrial research.

Dr. Hanley leads growth innovation, external technology, and recruiting for the R&D function at Dow. He joined Dow in 2012 as a research chemist and has since held various roles supporting multiple Dow businesses. In 2023, Patrick moved to his current role, focusing on future technology, capability, and talent strategy to support Dow’s decarbonize and grow strategy.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from West Virginia University in 2008 and his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012. Prior to starting at Dow, Patrick studied at the University of California, Berkeley.
