CWRU-NSYSU Strategic Alliance in Chemistry Education Visit Comes to a Close

From August 24 to September 2, the CWRU Chemistry Department was pleased to host visiting students and faculty from the National Sun Yat-sen University Chemistry Department. The visit, which was coordinated between both departments, kickstarted the 3+2 Early Entry Master’s Program, which allows undergraduate Chemistry students from NSYSU to apply to the CWRU Master’s in Chemistry program and earn a joint bachelor’s-Master’s degree. Visiting students received lectures from CWRU Chemistry faculty regarding ongoing research in the department and had the opportunity to conduct hands-on work in select faculty labs.

The visit culminated in a series of student presentations on Wednesday, September 2. Students gave 10-minute presentations with a Q&A segment to show what they learned during their lab work. Yi Cheng Liang and Chin Wei Chang, working in the Burda group, received First Place while Chih Ting Li and Yung Hsiang Yang, representing the Liang group, took Second Place.

The visit provided a snapshot of the academic rigor and exciting research Master’s in Chemistry students can expect at CWRU. The department celebrates the success of this event and extends its appreciation to all contributors and participants.
