First Year Chemistry PhD Student Wins GSSCE Grant

Lucia Yuan, a 1st-year PhD student from Karayilan Research Lab, received The Graduate Council of Arts and Sciences (GCAS) Graduate Student Scholarship and Creative Endeavors (GSSCE) Grant. Lucia’s proposal on the synthesis of a new type of viscoelastics for ocular research is funded by GCAS. She will present the results of this research at the ACS National Meeting, or Gordon Research Conference, in the summer of 2023.

The GSSCE grant is distributed by GCAS, which recognizes the importance of professional development for all graduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). According to their website, “[they] celebrate the broad array of careers that can follow a degree from Case Western Reserve University focused on scholarship and creative endeavors that draw on all forms of inquiry.”
